'Music in the Mornings' program starts the day in Bourne schools

A major facet of the Mission of Mastersingers by the Sea is assuming a leadership role in creating unique and innovative educational programs for school children that broaden their knowledge of and appreciation for music. Mastersingers by the Sea under the direction of Dr. David MacKenzie has developed a partnership with the Bourne schools to present “Music In The Mornings”, a program which presents five minutes of classical music listening every school day. A musical selection is played through the school's public address system, preceded by an informative introductory script. The same selection is played daily for an entire week, with progressively more information provided in the introductory script, so that, by the end of the week the students have gained a deep familiarity with the music. Children not only learn about music, they learn to experience the power and beauty of music for themselves.
